There is no single number for an Auckland wedding livestream. A registry-office ceremony with one camera and one mic is a different job from a five-hour rural wedding with multi-cam, drone, branded title cards and a same-week edited recording. What follows is the honest breakdown of the five things that move the quote up or down — so you know what to ask before you book, with us or anyone else.
1 — Ceremony length and event format
The biggest single driver of cost is how long the crew is on-site. A 45-minute ceremony stream is a different production from a six-hour reception live-coverage. The two extremes:
- Ceremony-only livestream — we arrive an hour before, stream the ceremony, hand the recording over. Typical 2-3 hour total commitment.
- Full-day livestream — ceremony, drinks reception, speeches, first dance. Typically 6-8 hours of coverage with cuts between segments and a single edited recording delivered after.
Most Auckland couples book somewhere in between — ceremony plus speeches, around 3-4 hours of active coverage. The quote scales linearly with active hours, not by the page-number of services on the brief.
2 — Number of cameras (and the drone)
The standard Lopstream rig is three to five cameras for a wedding. What each camera does:
- Front camera — wide shot of the altar, locked off, captures the whole tableau.
- Aisle camera — close-in on the vows, the rings, the moment the celebrant says "you may now kiss".
- Back camera — over-the-shoulder of the couple looking out at the guests, useful for emotional reaction shots.
- Drone — establishing shots before the ceremony, exit shot after the kiss. Not running during the vows themselves (audio reasons).
- Roaming camera — guest reactions, the parents, the bridesmaids during the speeches.
Going from three cameras to five adds about 25% to the quote. Going from three to one (a single locked-off ceremony stream for an overseas family) takes about 30% off. The drone is added per event as a separate line item.
3 — The audio chain you don't see on a quote
This is the variable most couples don't ask about and most operators don't volunteer. The picture is consistent across livestream operators — the audio is where the quality fork happens.
A proper broadcast audio chain means a clip mic on the celebrant, a clip mic on each of the couple (or a stereo pair if they're standing close), a roving mic for the speeches at the reception, and venue ambience captured separately and mixed in. The whole chain runs through a mixer, is levelled live, and lands in the stream at broadcast-grade levels.
The cheap alternative — "we'll pick up the audio with the camera mic" or "we'll plug into the venue PA" — produces a stream that's technically watchable but emotionally flat. The reason every Lopstream Google review mentions "we could hear everything clearly" is the audio chain, not the picture. We don't quote without it.
4 — Branded titles, lower-thirds and post-production polish
Optional but often booked together with the multi-cam packages:
- Branded title cards — couple names, ceremony date, custom monogram or hashtag, rendered live into the stream.
- Animated lower-thirds — the celebrant's name, the readers' names, the song titles for the first dance.
- Sponsor/family acknowledgements — interstitial cards thanking specific family members or venue partners.
- Licensed background music — we use a licensed library so the recording doesn't get pulled by YouTube's copyright system later.
Each of these is a small add-on individually; bundled as "branded production" they typically add about 15% to the quote.
5 — Recording delivery
Every Lopstream wedding includes the full recording delivered after. What changes is the format and the turnaround:
- Standard — single edited master file, full ceremony, delivered within two weeks.
- Express — same edited master delivered within 72 hours. Useful if you're sharing the recording with overseas family at a post-wedding dinner.
- Social cuts — short-form vertical clips for Instagram Reels and TikTok, cut from the live coverage. Typically 6-12 clips depending on event length.
- Raw and uncut — all camera angles delivered as separate raw files, alongside the edited master. The first published Lopstream review specifically mentioned this — overseas families value the raw footage as much as the edit.
What's NOT a separate cost
For transparency, here's what's already included in every Lopstream wedding quote — so you can compare like with like against other operators:
- Travel within the Auckland region (Central, North Shore, West, East, South, Manukau).
- The broadcast audio chain (we will not quote without it).
- The live stream itself (multi-destination, including private password-protected links for overseas family).
- The recording delivered after.
- Two-stage internet redundancy (venue Wi-Fi plus bonded 5G backup).
- Setup and pack-down within the standard arrival window.
How to compare wedding livestream quotes
Five questions to ask any operator before signing — these are the same questions we'd ask if we were booking the service ourselves:
- What's the audio chain? (Clip mic on the celebrant is non-negotiable.)
- What's the redundancy if the internet drops? (Bonded mobile backup AND local recording.)
- How many people will be on-site? (Smaller is usually better for ceremonies — see our blog post on why we use an iPhone-only rig.)
- What's the recording turnaround? (And is it included or extra?)
- What's the travel policy? (Auckland region usually free; further afield in the quote.)
FAQ
Why isn't there a flat price on the website?
Wedding livestream scope varies too widely to publish a single number honestly. A short registry-office ceremony with one camera is a different job from a five-hour rural wedding with multi-cam, drone, branded title cards and a recording delivered the next day. We quote per event so you only pay for what your event actually needs.
What is the smallest wedding stream you'll do?
A single-camera ceremony stream for couples who just want their overseas family to see the vows live. We still run a broadcast audio chain with a clip mic on the celebrant — that's non-negotiable, because cheap audio is the giveaway in livestreams more than picture quality is. Quotes available for this configuration.
Do you charge for travel within Auckland?
No travel fee for venues inside the Auckland region — Central, North Shore, West, East, South and Manukau. For weddings outside Auckland (Waiheke, the Coromandel, Northland) we include travel in the tailored quote rather than billing it separately. Send us the venue location with your enquiry.
Can I add drone footage to a smaller package?
Yes, the drone is added per event. It typically pairs with multi-camera ceremonies because the cuts work better — wide drone establishing shot, multi-cam during the vows, drone exit as the couple walks out. The drone alone with one ground camera does not give a strong livestream result.
What's the recording delivered as, and when?
Edited master file with the full ceremony, plus optional short-form social cuts. Standard turnaround is two weeks after the wedding. Express turnaround (within 72 hours) is available for couples sharing the recording at a reception or honeymoon dinner, agreed in the quote.
